Capital Project Management
Capital Project Management
We work with food and beverage manufacturers to drive capital projects through the early technical and financial development of the procurement methodology and project team set-up. We specialise in brownfield developments where new processes and equipment are successfully integrated into an existing facility. We also manage greenfield projects.
Our team selects, appoints, and manages food and beverage equipment suppliers, as well as consultant teams with specialist expertise on multi-disciplinary projects, including civil, structural, electrical and automation design specialists. Our safety engineering division TEG Risk can provide HAZOP, machine safety, hazardous areas and combustible dust consulting.
We help clients develop new processes or improve existing processes by reducing cost, improving quality, and reducing waste. We use value engineering, innovation and LEAN processes to drive lower cost solutions.
We provide cost estimation, cost planning, and cost management to control projects within the project budget and provide real-time cost status reporting.
Our engineers and project managers undertake project feasibility studies, and prepare, review, and analyse project programmes to ensure everything is on time in an efficient manner.
Our engineers are well-versed in the preparation of tender and contract documents, and have specialist expertise in FIDIC, NZS 3910, NZS 3916 and Design-Build. We manage payments, variations, scope changes, claims, and contract correspondence.

Industry Case Studies
Frucor Factory Extension
Tying together the new plant area and the existing structure post-extension presented challenges in terms of design compatibility, utility connections, and ensuring a seamless transition between the two.
Factory Relocation – Large Global Food & Beverage Provider
“When a lease quickly ran out on one of the smaller sites, the decision was made to move the whole production wash line to an existing larger site requiring a new building, revised drainage systems on a tight timeframe.”
PepsiCo Automatic Case Packers
“One of the main challenges was the tight time frame. Bluebird Foods had built up stock ahead of the shut down to avoid any supply issues, however there was no leeway to go beyond these agreed days. So careful schedule planning was essential with multiple trades and overlapping tasks”
Fonterra – Chemical Compound Upgrade
“Once the capital expenditure budget was approved, TEG managed the whole process for the client, from a detailed design, to final commissioning and sign off of the new equipment”
Cold Chain- Fonterra Crawford Street
“Thanks to the project 190,000 metric tonnes of product now passes through the centre annually, enabling dairy products to move faster and more efficiently to port for export”
Baking – George Weston Foods Baking Factory Redevelopment
“This was a complex and multifaceted project with a high risk of product contamination, as for the length of the project the working factory was to double as a construction site”
Building – PepsiCo Administration Offices
“It was advised that it was more beneficial to demolish a large part of the existing building, than to save it. Therefore demolition was undertaken, leaving just the ground floor of the original building”
Building – Beak and Johnston Relocation Project
“Our team has the know-how and experience to deliver complex projects over tight timeframes, within working factories. Beak and Johnston recognised the importance of engaging with Project Managers and Project Engineers who understand the complexities and pressures involved in such a project”
Beverages – Line Upgrade
“Due to the chosen bottle having a more tapered neck, the audit revealed that much of the legacy equipment on the line needed to undergo modification or replacement as it was no longer appropriate for the new bottle shape”
Bluebird – Snack Foods
“TEG Projects have worked consistently on PepsiCo initiatives and have a well-founded understanding of their systems and processes. Pepsico values relationships with preferred suppliers with a view to creating standard solutions and systems throughout their sites globally, and therefore TEG Projects was an obvious fit for this project”
Dairy – Fonterra, The Picasso Project
“These wide reaching, complex and multi-faceted works required watchful coordination between multiple construction companies, regulatory bodies and the local Edgecumbe community as well as an operating dairy production site”
