Ross Norgrove

TEG Projects Managing Director

Ross has more than 20 years experience in broad international engineering project management roles primarily in the manufacturing sector.

Prior to forming Technical Engineering Group Ltd, Ross was the Technical and Engineering Manager for Goodman Fielder NZ. In 2001 he was responsible for forming the GFNZ Technical & Engineering department which serviced the 22 Goodman Fielder manufacturing sites in the areas of capital projects, process development, packaging development and asset management.

In the 1990’s Ross managed the New Zealand operations of an exporting company providing turn-key automated in-line chilling and freezing and materials handling systems to multi-national food companies in the USA, Europe, Australasia and South America. Prior to this Ross spent a total of four years working as a Project Manager for one of New Zealand’s leading engineering consultancies and another six years undertaking project work for a variety of blue-chip industrial processing companies.

Hamish Baker

TEG Risk Managing Director & Sales and Marketing Director

Hamish is a health and safety professional with over fifteen years experience in senior health and safety roles within multinational corporations. He has an Environmental Engineering Degree, NEBOSH (level 6) Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety and international functional safety certification with TUV Sud.

Following the completion of an Environmental Engineering degree Hamish held roles in Safety, Health and Environmental (SH&E) Management with Goodman Fielder for 4 years before relocating to the United Kingdom for eight years. In his role as the Safety Health and Environment Manager for International Flavours and Fragrances (IFF) in the UK he was responsible for a high hazard chemical plant and a flavours food factory.

This was a demanding role with a vast range of SH&E management issues and regulatory requirements to deal with, often of a technical nature and which could only allow for competent and pragmatic advice and solutions. This period was invaluable for developing process safety exposure where there was substantial HAZID, HAZOP, PHA and hazardous area classification requirements and best practice Environmental compliance and management work.

8 years of UK experience has given Hamish broad knowledge in international and world class practices and standards around Safety Health & Environmental management across a variety of sectors. Most importantly, for clients, Hamish is not a consultant by background, instead his experience has been as a hands on internal resource in the companies he has worked for, meaning he has been a key stakeholder having to live with the outcomes of his advice. When it comes to risk and sustainability you can expect advice and solutions that are competent, practical and pragmatic while also being world class.

Jachin Rowe

Project Manager

Jachin brings a wealth of experience in capital project management, pharmaceutical compliance, and engineering innovation to his new role as Project Manager at TEG Projects. With a background spanning pharmaceutical and food manufacturing sectors, he has successfully delivered large-scale projects including laboratory installations, clean-room renovations, production line upgrades, and packaging solutions. His expertise lies in managing complex, multi-disciplinary teams and ensuring projects meet strict GMP, FDA, and safety legislation requirements while driving operational efficiency.

Jachin is passionate about process improvement, safety, and compliance and has a proven track record of delivering results that balance technical excellence with business outcomes. At TEG Projects, Jachin looks forward to applying his skills to support clients across New Zealand and Australia, helping them achieve successful project outcomes from concept through to completion.

On the weekends Jachin likes to Garden, watch sports, snowboard and tinker/make things in the garage

Murray Irvine

Senior Project Manager

Murray joined TEG Projects as a Project Manager and Safety Engineer in 2015, having previously held management roles with Lion Breweries and Bluebird Foods. Murray cut his teeth with Fitting, Turning and Machining qualifications before turning his attention more specifically to engineering management, with a focus on machine safety. As well as being an experienced Project Manager and Safety Engineer for TEG Projects, Murray also has a background in equipment reliability improvement having previously held factory maintenance manager roles.

Since joining the TEG Projects team he has managed projects of various complexity and size from definition to handover. Tasks include scoping, CAPEX development, contracts, and contractor management with work primarily being carried out at Bluebird Foods, and Pepsico plants. This work included an installation of new robotic pick and place packing equipment and new conveyor system, and a factory manufacturing area demolition and refurbishment including new internal building fabric, HVAC, lighting, floors and drainage.

Additionally, Murray is responsible for undertaking machine risk assessments, developing scopes of work and specifications for machine safety upgrades, and preparing machine safety reports for clients including Fonterra, Frucor, ANZCO, Alliance, and Fulton Hogan.

In his spare time Murray enjoys getting out on the water for a spot of fishing, or getting the clubs out at his local golf club.

Industrial Plant Services Lead/Senior Project Manager, Safety Engineer

As industrial Plant Services Lead at TEG Projects, Rhys is a TÜV Nord Certified Machine Safety Expert with more than 13 years of experience delivering complex industrial projects across New Zealand. Including projects across Utilities, Food & Beverage, FMCG, Pulp & Paper, and Chemical Manufacturing, he combines deep technical knowledge with structured project delivery to achieve outstanding results for clients.

Specialising in brownfield upgrades, asset replacement, and plant safety improvements, Rhys is known for his practical, solutions-driven approach and ability to navigate highly regulated environments. His background in multidisciplinary capital project delivery in industrial plant services – developed through his time at Beca – underpins his focus on risk management, process integrity, and engineering excellence. Rhys’ collaborative communication style ensures clear alignment between clients, contractors, and internal teams from concept through to commissioning.

Key projects include:

For Silver Fern Farms: Rhys led a programme of Ammonia Safety Improvements across four North Island Silver Fern Farms sites, involving upgrades to ammonia detection, control, and ventilation systems to meet IIAR and AS/NZS 5149 standards. Rhys also managed the Te Aroha Wastewater MCC7 and bore upgrade, overseeing the design and construction of a new building and electrical cabinet to meet NZS 3000 requirements. In addition, he led the development of a non-potable water bore system and a staged approach to implementing a new Water Treatment Plant, supporting site operations with a reliable potable water source.

For Fonterra: Rhys led the design management and stakeholder liaison for the Hautapu Wastewater Treatment Facility biosolids loadout project. This involved overseeing the design of a 55-tonne overhead solids hopper and truck loadout system, including a weighbridge, as well as assessing technology options and developing the Basis of Design documentation to achieve alignment between stakeholders and designers. He also managed an emergency pipe bridge replacement project, which involved constructing an underground service tunnel to restore and protect critical electrical infrastructure essential to site operations.

Senior Project Manager

Wayne is an experienced and qualified Professional Project Manager (PMP) with a strong track record of delivering complex, high-value projects across New Zealand and Australia. He joined TEG Projects in 2025, with over a decade of experience in the food processing industry. Wayne has seamlessly navigated roles as a Project Manager, Project Engineer, and Business Analyst—adapting to the evolving needs of each organisation.

Throughout his career, Wayne has successfully led projects valued up to $20 million and played a key role in larger projects exceeding $300 million. His passion lies in driving business process improvements through the effective application of tools and techniques, often drawing innovative solutions from diverse industries to deliver exceptional project outcomes.

Wayne’s broad expertise spans project planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout, with a focus on optimising performance, fostering cross-functional collaboration, and ensuring stakeholder alignment. His ability to blend traditional project management methodologies with agile and lean principles makes him a versatile leader in dynamic project environments.

When he’s not working, Wayne and his Partner Tess are usually found either spending time with friends and family, working around the house and garden, walking Ted the dog, or exploring the country on their motorbikes. Wayne also chases around after his two boys, Martin (16) and Kerwin (13) ensuring they live their best lives.

Wayne and Tess enjoy spending time on the family farm in Pōrangahau, and visiting friends and family in Tauranga.

Peter Cope

Senior Project Manager

As a highly experienced Project Director and Senior Project Manager, Peter brings close to two decades of leadership experience delivering complex capital projects across the FMCG, food and beverage, brewing, distilling, and manufacturing sectors. Based in Australia, he has worked extensively across Australia, New Zealand, and the Asia-Pacific region, leading multidisciplinary teams and high-value programmes from concept through to completion.

Peter combines deep technical expertise with strong commercial and operational insight. With a background in biotechnology and bio-process engineering, and hands-on experience in production and operations management, he is particularly adept at bridging the gap between engineering design, site execution, and operational outcomes. His career spans both brownfield and greenfield environments, with a strong track record of delivering projects in live operating facilities while minimising disruption to production.

He specialises in master planning, feasibility, and front-end project development, helping organisations plan for future growth, end-of-life asset replacement, and the introduction of new and more efficient technologies. Peter has led the development and ongoing optimisation of capital investment masterplans, enabling organisations to prioritise Capex spend and align projects with strategic and sustainability objectives.
