2 Decades of Dedication, Growth, & Exceptional People – TEG Projects

As part of our 20-year celebration at TEG Projects, we’re continuing our tribute to the people who’ve played a pivotal role in shaping our culture and delivering exceptional project outcomes. At TEG, our long-standing team members are mentors, changemakers, and the backbone of our success.
In this series, we’re proud to share the stories of individuals who’ve been with us for 10 years or more. Their insights not only reflect the evolution of TEG but also offer a glimpse into what makes our team so strong.
This time, we’re shining the spotlight on Murray, who joined TEG a decade ago. His story is one of bold career transition, continuous growth, and the unique opportunities that come with our employment model.
A Leap into Project Management
Ten years ago, Murray made a significant career decision—one that changed the course of his professional life. Having built a solid foundation in general engineering and production management roles across the food and beverage sector, he found himself at a familiar industry crossroads.
“Experienced leaders in FMCG will attest to the challenge of balancing workloads between running the business and improving the business—the former often taking priority and, more often than not, going unrecognised.”
It was at this point that Murray decided to pursue full-time project management, drawn by the promise of focusing on meaningful change initiatives. And in his own words, it’s one of the best career choices he’s ever made.
Discovering the TEG Difference
Murray first learned about TEG Projects through his industry network. What stood out was how TEG’s project managers integrated into client organisations—often forming long-term partnerships while working on multiple projects.
“As a TEG Project Manager, I continue to work within large organisations and feel like part of their team. At the same time, the delineation provided by the contracting model enables me to focus on what I enjoy most—delivering meaningful improvement projects.”
This dual dynamic—deep client immersion with the independence of a consultant—struck the perfect balance. It gave Murray the ability to do impactful work, while remaining professionally energised by exposure to different businesses and challenges.
Variety, Stability, and Long-Term Growth
Murray likens the TEG model to changing jobs every few years, without the instability of actually moving companies—a unique advantage, especially later in one’s career.
“Not everyone can do that, especially later in their careers, and I believe this is one of the greatest benefits of our employment model.”
It’s this blend of variety and stability that’s kept him inspired over the past decade. By working across a range of clients, Murray has expanded his industry knowledge, sharpened his skills, and consistently delivered results that improve operations, enhance efficiency, and support growth.
Advice for Aspiring Project Management Professionals
To those considering a shift into full-time project management—particularly through the TEG model—Murray offers this advice:
“Don’t hesitate. Give it a go. You’ll gain exposure to a wide range of industries from our client list and develop a breadth of skills few others have the opportunity to acquire.”
His journey is proof that it’s never too late to pivot, and that the right environment—one that values autonomy, supports learning, and nurtures long-term careers—can unlock a whole new level of professional fulfilment.
Celebrating Ten Years—and Counting
Murray’s 10-year milestone is a reflection of the mutual value that exists when experienced professionals find the right fit. At TEG, we’re proud to offer a platform where people like Murray can thrive, grow, and make a lasting impact.
Stay tuned for more team stories as we continue to honour the people behind our 20 years of project excellence.
