At the heart of TEG’s success are the passionate professionals who bring our values to life every day—many of whom have been with us for a decade or more.
In this blog series, we’re spotlighting some of the incredible individuals whose loyalty, leadership, and legacy have driven TEG forward. These are the people who have grown with us, mentored others, weathered challenges, and helped build the supportive culture that defines who we are.
Here, we shine the spotlight on Lindsay, our very first employee and a valued team member for 20 years. Here is Lindsay’s story.
Building a Career with Purpose and Flexibility
Lindsay joined TEG in early 2005, becoming the company’s very first employee. With a background in mechanical engineering and a passion for growth, Lindsay saw TEG as the ideal platform to become the best project engineer possible. And two decades later, it’s clear that decision has paid off—for both Lindsay and TEG.
“I wanted to be the best Project Engineer I could be and felt TEG provided the framework to grow.”
Over the years, Lindsay has seen TEG evolve from a small start-up into a thriving, multi-client, Trans-Tasman operation known for its client focus and engineering excellence. Much of Lindsay’s career has been dedicated to one client, working in close-knit team environments. In recent years, that scope has expanded to supporting other TEG managers, other TEG clients, and tackling new industries.
Adaptability, Teamwork, and Continuous Learning
Like many of our project managers, from project inception through to safety management and commissioning, Lindsay’s role has always been hands-on and deeply involved. The work is varied, often challenging, and incredibly rewarding.
“Working for TEG is fulfilling at the end of a successful project and challenging. We are often called on to do difficult projects within the client facilities during production or tight timeframes.”
What stands out is the ability to work across multiple clients. TEG’s culture fosters a sense of independence, while also encouraging collaboration, regular communication, and a strong sense of belonging—even when working remotely.
“There is a lot of job flexibility… Management will always work with you if you would like to change clients, work on other projects or shift within New Zealand or Australia.”
A Culture of Support and Real Leadership
Lindsay highlights the leadership at TEG as a standout factor in their long tenure—leaders who are not only supportive in tough times but genuinely interested in feedback and continuous improvement.
“Leadership is always very supportive when things get tough or go wrong. They’re also open to change and looking for ideas for improvement in how TEG operates.”
That support extends to learning and development too. From structured annual training days to informal team knowledge-sharing via email and monthly virtual catchups, there’s always an opportunity to learn from peers—something Lindsay believes is unique to TEG’s culture.
Wisdom for the Next Generation
With 20 years of experience, Lindsay offers this advice to new starters:
“Tap into the knowledge of those around you. Look for opportunities to advance or try something new—and remember, if you don’t like what you are doing, ask for a change.”
